- Get the person’s full name and find out which type of licence they hold.
- Use the board for that profession.
- Ask which pharmacy fills the medicine and how its permit can be checked.
Check the person doing your assessment first
As checked October 3, 2026, Arizona had separate record checks for doctors, nurses, and physician assistants.
- Doctor with MD after the name
- Use Doctor Search at the Arizona Medical Board.
- Doctor whose name ends with DO
- Use Arizona’s separate Find your DO search for these doctors.
- Nurse practitioner
- Check the nurse licence and the extra certificate for this kind of nursing at the Nursing Board. Its lookup service is called Nursys.
- Physician assistant (PA)
- Use PA Search and the licence records at the Physician Assistant Board.
Ask the person which letters and licence type to look for. Match the full name to the record; the MD search does not replace the DO search.
An Arizona nurse practitioner needs the Nursing Board’s permission to prescribe. The medicine and the patients treated must fit that nurse’s training.
An Arizona physician assistant’s prescribing depends on training and the board’s rules for working with a doctor.
Ask the board how to confirm that this person may examine you and prescribe the medicine being discussed. A job title alone does not finish that check.
Online care has an Arizona check too
As checked October 3, 2026, some people licensed to provide care in another state could register for remote visits through the Arizona board for their profession.
They needed a licence without restrictions in the other state. They also had to meet rules about past discipline, insurance for claims about care, and Arizona law.
Remote care is also called telehealth. Ask for the Arizona board’s name and the person’s licence or registration details. Ask that board to confirm the person may treat you while you are in Arizona. If a different permission to practise is claimed, ask for its name and have the board check it.
Check the pharmacy separately
As of October 3, 2026, a pharmacy based outside Arizona needed a permit from Arizona before sending medicine into the state.
It also needed its home state’s permission to operate as a pharmacy.
The pharmacy’s permit and the pharmacist’s licence are different Arizona checks.

Read the record with its limits

An empty list of board decisions about licence problems does not prove that nobody ever complained or that the board never acted.
A board decision can be a formal order about a licence. Look for headings about discipline or board orders. Ask the board which other public records you can request if the online result leaves a question.
