- Ask who can provide care while you are in Arizona.
- Ask how the assessment happens and who answers questions.
- Ask what happens if an examination or test needs an in-person visit.
What would make an in-person visit useful?
Could you more easily explain your concern in a room? Would it help to discuss the medicine label together? Include travel, the visit fee, and follow-up arrangements on your question list.
When comparing in-person clinics, ask who will do the assessment. Also ask which pharmacy will fill any prescription.
What would make remote care workable?
Telehealth is a visit held at a distance; you might speak by video with the person treating you.
Arizona rules checked October 3, 2026, allowed some prescribing after a remote examination.
The examination still had to be enough to assess your health. The person prescribing had to check which examination rules applied to the medicine in question.
As of October 3, 2026, Arizona required the person treating you to decide whether a remote visit could meet your care needs. This included any need to examine you physically.
Ask what the screen visit can finish and whether a test or physical examination needs an in-person visit. Ask who reads your health information, who can ask more questions, and how you reach that person later.
Consent means knowing what you agree to
Informed consent means understanding the care and agreeing to it.
As of October 3, 2026, Arizona usually required that agreement before remote care. If you agreed by speaking, the agreement had to be noted in your records. Your usual rights to keep health information private still applied.
The note records your agreement; this rule does not itself require an audio recording of your voice. Ask for an explanation of the visit, health records, and later care.
A screen does not finish every assessment
Guidance from medical boards, checked September 17, 2026, says doctors need to arrange tests or in-person care when an assessment requires them.
Ask who arranges that next step and whether it brings another charge.
